BIO
A resident of Peterborough, Ontario, Linda Warren graduated from Nova Scotia College of Art and Design University in 1981 with a studio major in photography. Strongly influenced by the work of Sally Mann, Duane Michals, and the later work of Robert Frank, Linda brings to the art of photography a deep interest in the personal, interrogating the spaces between archival familial imagery and the modern digital world. Her images derive from a longtime interest in alternative processes resulting here in a collection of photographs made entirely with an iPhone and altered in digital postproduction.

ARTIST STATEMENT
This body of work explores the intersection of analogue and digital photography through personal narratives and landscapes. I’m particularly interested in what happens to our memories over time. To examine my own identity this way, I have used archival family photographs reproduced through the use of a handheld iPhone and combined with multiple images in digital postproduction. This technique has generated multidimensional narratives whose dreamlike atmosphere becomes a scrim through which individual moments can be expanded, examined, questioned or simply recalled. The strong use of colour is another tool with which the boundaries of time and place have been pushed.
