A filmmaker’s remarkable radical family in late 1960s Ontario – political upheaval, youthful idealism, and police brutality

Toronto, 1969: Clarke Mackey’s mother and young siblings join a hardcore Maoist political party advocating for the overthrow of capitalism, imperialism, and the state. They find a group headed by a charismatic ideologue and his even more dogmatic disciples – and an atmosphere of danger and turmoil. Mackey’s fascinating personal journey digs deeply into his family’s history – both past and present – to share political secrets of 1960s Canada and ponder the lessons left over for today.
