Two young women–one Anishinaabe, one Syrian–set off in a canoe to share story and song

Exploring the emerging relationships between new Canadian and Indigenous communities, this short film is based on the first conversations between two youths – one Indigenous and one a refugee – as they embark on a canoe ride across shared waters.

The young stars of River Song, Tonya-Leah Watts and Ansam Aldebaijel, will sing live after the film.

Post-film discussion at Whitepath Consulting

Continue the (canoe) conversation! Join some of the filmmakers and subjects of River Song, Syrian Eagles, Dreams of Electric City and Oshkigmong, as we open up conversations between First Peoples, new Canadians and settlers. Come to share a bit of your story, and to learn from the newest and oldest members of our community.
