A new generation of LGBTQ Inuit are actively “unshaming” their past

Traditional Inuit beliefs about sexuality and family structure have been erased over 60 years of colonization, religion, forced migration, and cultural assimilation. Today in Iqaluit a new generation is holding their first LGBT2Q pride celebrations and rediscovering Inuit notions of sexuality and gender. Asking important questions about historical reclamation and cultural resurgence, this warm film shows us that change and healing are finally making headway.
