The Home Team

New immigrants leave big cities and hot climates to live in a tiny, remote community in Northern Canada. This is a story about fitting in, finding connections, and the magic that happens when different worlds come together.

New immigrants move to a tiny, frozen corner of Northern Canada from big cities, hot climates and diverse world cultures. Most must leave their children behind and trade their professional careers for service jobs at the general store and local café.

The Home Team shares candid and heart-felt stories, showing how the newcomers are embracing northern life as well as how the community is embracing multi-culturalism, including the advent of a northern cricket league.
